Our partnership with the YWCA

In the community, our efforts are dedicated towards the Greater Lafayette YWCA. The YWCA's mission is to provide adult and youth enrichment programs, domestic violence prevention and intervention, and women's cancer screenings. The YWCA is a safe haven for many local women, and as Alpha Chi's, we strive to assist the best we can to continue providing this safe place for these women. We serve this wonderful organization through frequent volunteering events, such as deep cleaning the facilities, wrapping gift presents, assisting with the annual masquerade ball, and even just folding envelopes for the secretarial unit.

Our philanthropies on Purdue's Campus

The Alpha Beta chapter at Purdue University prides itself as a frontrunner in promoting domestic violence awareness across campus through our philanthropic work and service initiatives. Every year, we host a month-long campaign during October called Domestic Violence Awareness Month and have different activities occurring each week, which include "These Hands 'Donut' Hurt" and "Pumpkin Pie with Alpha Chi". In February, we run Healthy Relationships Week to spread awareness for healthy love, and in April we host one of the largest marches on campus, Walk a Mile In Her Shoes with the local women's shelter, the Greater Lafayette YWCA. Although only a mile, this Walk a Mile In Her Shoes is incredibly unique as it features men all throughout campus and Lafayette, Indiana walking a mile in high heels!
